CRYSTAL LAKE, ILL. — Charles Hurych, 75, formerly of Attica, died Aug, 19, 1999, at Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock, Ill. Born June 21, 1924, in Attica, he was the son of Charles and Rose Starey Hurych. He married Mary Collins in 1949 in Lafayette. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed at Precision Twist Drill and Machine Co. in Crystal Lake for many years. He served in the United States Army during WW II. Survivors include: sister, Mary Simpson, Pekin, Ill.; brother, Robert Hurych, West Lebanon; and nephews, Ray Simpson, Oak Park, Ill., Steve Simpson, Toledo, Ohio, David Simpson, Pekin, Ill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary D. Hurych, 74, who died on May 26, 1999, at Crystal Pines Health Care Center. Born March 15, 1925, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Dewey and Mary Douglas Collins. The Hurych's were preceded in death by their son Doug on Jan. 8, 1998. Funeral services and internment for both were private. Arrangements were made by Querhammer and Flagg Funeral Home. – jlr
